educators + schools
Liberated learning—full of joy, play, curiosity, and connection, requires liberated educators.
Children are born whole and free. It is often when they enter school or other formalized environments when they begin to “lose” some of their joy and curiosity as they disconnect from what they know deep within.
Educators, too, are born whole and free. They’ve simply had a longer stretch of time to be conditioned to disconnect from who they are and what they know. We must stop outsourcing educators’ learning. Liberation is not served by pre-packaged models or easy-to-implement “solutions.”
We must create communities of trust for educators to reconnect with themselves and what they know is best for children. And we must invite educators into their own liberatory experiences of play, wonder, flexibility, slowness, unknowing, laughter, mess, dream, and remembering.
My work supports educators to in-source their own wisdom and more deeply notice and connect with the wisdoms of children, families, and others they serve.
How we trust, support, listen to, and learn from educators is the foundational pulse of any school or learning space. Liberatory learning requires depth of attention to the pedagogical roots of all matters of teaching.
Are you working to create conditions for liberatory educator practice?
Do you want to nourish long-lasting, resilient structures for playful, joyful, curious learning?
Would you like to align your liberatory intentions with your process?
The bridge to the new paradigm extends from wherever you are—whether you work inside, between, or outside of current teaching and learning systems.
I’ll meet you where you are.
existing schools and organizations
Existing educational systems are one of the most challenging locations of the current moment. I’m here to support you to find hidden opportunities, build responsive structures, and create small moments that potentiate liberatory learning and trust in educators.
Workshops
Workshops invite small shifts of practice and support educators to (re)engage with what they know is best for children. Because workshops are hands-on and exploratory, they also allow educators to experience liberatory practices for themselves.
I customize workshops for your unique context. You may request a workshop around a particular topic or a central question. Or, you may share details about your context and the kinds of things with which educators are grappling, and I can suggest possible workshop options.
Trust-based Protocols
Trust doesn’t grow from the top-down or through mission statements pronouncing its importance. Trust is nourished slowly, one interaction and experience at a time.
I design and facilitate trust-based protocols for educators (and other stakeholders). Based upon the details of your context, I’ll work with you to customize something best suited for your group’s unique dynamics.
Talks
When an existing structure feels tight, those within it forget to breathe. A small nudge or spark is often enough to remind educators and others of their connection to the wider pulse of the world.
I offer talks (for conferences, events, gatherings) to invite openings of nourishment and remembering. You may request a talk around a particular topic (e.g., play, curiosity, awe, slowness, listening, trust, compassion) or you may simply share a few details about your context and I’ll create something attuned to what feels most resonant for the moment.
Consultation
If your organization is ready to shift and is committed to the deep work required to unlearn logics and practices that limit liberation of educators and children, I am 100% ready to work alongside you.
Reach out to schedule an introductory conversation to explore if our collaboration is a good fit.
Communities of Practice
A small, opt-in community of practice with a simple focus is a beautiful way to grow educator trust (in themselves and each other).
This might be a group of educators gathering to look at student writing, moments of classroom play, examples of curiosity, or the ways students express their feelings about learning.
I can help you design a community of practice within whatever pockets of time/space you have available, facilitate its beginning sessions, and advise you on ways to sustain it in the future.
new schools, systems, and spaces
The challenge of creating new systems is to not replicate old logics inside them. This requires deep attention to how logics of knowledge and schooling are held in our bodies, in our language, and in our implicit habits of “improvement” and “change.” I’m here to support others who are ready for deep and nuanced work to attune to liberation of learning.
Resee School
For those working to reimagine what school might be and willing to engage in deep personal exploration of the latent logics that live within themselves.
In-depth curriculum intended for a group or small team working together to create a new kind of school, program, or learning experience. Local or online.
Course content can be designed as a series of workshops, as facilitated collaborative conversation, or as something hybrid and emergent.
Consultation
You may have a proposal, curriculum, template, map, or other kind of a plan for what you are creating. Or, you may already be inside its early stages of development.
I can support you to identify residual threads of latent, unliberatory logics that linger inside what you are creating.
We can then work together to dissolve, revise, and reimagine this for congruence with what you intend.
Curriculum Design
Curriculum comes from currere, flow of living process; a verb, not a noun of packaged knowledge or prescribed lessons.
I support curriculum design with attention to process rooted in ongoing reflective practice.
I’ll work with you to develop cohesive, interdisciplinary through-lines, responsive pedagogical methods, and the foundations of process to allow for continuous learning, unlearning, and revision for all beings within your community.
Storying
Telling stories of what’s emerging and listening to stories of process are significant to the spirals you seed.
Storying honors and devotes attention to the wisdoms held within the small moments of your process and supports your team to deeply listen, learn from, and document this.
I support you to design for storying to live within the structures, curriculum, and dreams you are pollinating.
Community of Practice
The process you use for building is what creates the form of what’s built.
A community of practice seeds integrity and congruence in the foundation of what you’re creating.
I can help you grow a trust-based community of educators (and other stakeholders) as you build the new system, program, or experience you want to create. I’ll work with you to design your community of practice, facilitate its early process, and support you to build internal capacity for its continuous regeneration.
Pricing for site-based work is determined by context, type of service, and scope of work. I’ll share options when we meet to discuss potential services.
individual educators
I’m here to support you to trust yourself and what you know is best for children, and to stay true to who you are and the gifts you’re here to share with children, families, and others in your care. Here are a few ways to work with me outside of the spaces/schools where you work.
